First Mommy Camping Trip 6/27/28

Hello Everyone and Welcome to the very first instalment of The 4J's Camping Adventures of 2007!

Well, Mommy J decided to test out all of the new camping gear by taking the two Little J's to Beaver Flats Campground which is 1km west of Elbow Falls. We spent one night at one of the most beautiful campsites I have even managed to snag, and Mommy J has seen her share of camp sites!

This site was a short walk in from the car parking area and very much worth it. It allowed us to be close to the Elbow River right next to a rock bed island where the kids spent several hours throwing rocks and far enough from the road to feel secure turning my back on the kids. The 30 meter walk carrying everything was also a great excuse for eating every two hours!

The highlights for the kids were; when I hung the blue LED glow stick light from the ceiling of the tent as a night light for them, being the last two children to go to sleep at 1030pm, and the Mommy magic of making SMORES! They were mesmerized that I was allowing them to eat marshmallows & chocolate for a snack so late at night.

All in all it was a very successful camping trip. I hope to repeat many more mid-week MommyJ trips this summer along with a few weekend adventures with Daddy and Friends! Now if I could just remember the two things I thought I should add to the camping kit......

Best Wishes Always,
Mommy J and the Little J's

Our Year to Date June

The first weekend of June included a Family Beaver Camping trip to Camp Gibson. Unfortunately MommyJ could not spend the night but did spend the day times at camp with everyone. The highlights of the camping trip were; seeing all of the Beavers (and MommyJ with BabyJ in the backpack) repel down the cliff to the Ghost River and realizing that I do love camping setting off the 4J's & 4W's Family Camping bug.....

Then there was BeaverJ's Kindergarten Graduation on June 15th. It seems like just yesterday he was born, I can not believe that he is already graduating kindergarten! Needless to say there were some teary eyes from me as we watched him sing, recite poetry in French and demonstrate improved co-ordination skills. Despite an exceptionally difficult year with his teacher BeaverJ has excelled in French Immersion. Here are the pictures from his graduation ceremonies:

BabyJ has been busy supervising our landscapers, there are hundreds of hours of fun in watching a bobcat and playing with her new favourite toy the water table.

After the first MommyJ camping adventure to Beaver Flats west of Elbow Falls we returned to Calgary for a most exciting evening. MommyW and I managed to be invited to spend An Evening with Robert F. Kennedy Jr at the Allstream Global Forum. This event was held at the Hyatt in downtown Calgary. The food was outstanding, location lovely and the speaker was Charismatic, Exciting, Interesting, and Genuine. It made me want to improve the world, it gave me little tasks that I could do to improve the world, and showed us the terrible mistakes being made by our closest neighbours who's footsteps we should not follow in. Should any of you ever have the opportunity to hear Robert Kennedy Jr. speak I implore you to go, he is OUTSTANDING!
